Making Flyer Templates Work For You

Lynne A Saarte asked:

You may think that you want a different advertising flyer every time you want to promote your business. But what about brand identity? If you keep changing your flyers for every event, no one will recognize it’s you. If your store always has the same kind of sale every fall, why not make a template so that you reduce your future flyer printing costs by saving time on the design? If you have an event every quarter or every season, people will start to notice your advertising flyers if you use the same flyer each time.

You can create your own template in Microsoft Word that works well with black-and-white or color flying printing. That way, you’ll get two different looks from the same complete flyer design.

Or, you could use a template for just the basics. You can insert your company’s name, address, Web site address and whatever other information you keep consistent on your flyers in your template, and then later go back and customize the template for each event. You can add different photos each time, and move the photos around, but keep the text in the same place.

Don’t forget your logo. Not only do you need the text basics mentioned above, you also need to make sure that your logo is in the template. That’s your company’s identity, so you don’t want to forget that! Your logo doesn’t have to in a prominent position - you’ll most likely want photos to dominate your flyer design, but keep that logo on there somewhere, and use colors in your photo and logo that complement each other so that neither is competing with the other.

You can also use templates from flyer printing companies if you aren’t confident in your artistic talents. Some templates you can’t customize, but those are for the people who generally don’t care to anyway. In most cases you can customize the companies’ templates to come up with a unique design for your company or product, or you can ask that the company come up with some template design ideas for you. One good thing about using a color flyer printing company is that they usually have a professional designer on board that can help you design or alter your template.

Make sure that your template is appropriate for your industry. There are many online companies with flyer templates that you can choose from that pertain to different industries. If you don’t want a flyer that is too generic, then think about your company and what you want to impart to people that see your flyers. If you want to look regal and professional, choose a template that has muted colors and elegant design. If your company plans parties, then bring out the colorful templates and fun graphics! Just make sure whatever template you choose reflects your company or product.

Free Templates - Create Outlines Using Microsoft Office Templates

Hilary Keaton asked:

Are you looking for an easy way to publish information? If so, using free templates is a good option to explore. Many people do not realize just how simple it is to use the power of Microsoft Office templates to create a publishable document quickly or just to begin and create outline. If you are considering publishing information, here are a few things that you might need to know:

From Agendas to Time Sheets, you can create impressive brochures, newsletters, journals, banners, even resumes using Microsoft office templates. Business cards, calendars, invoices and presentations are all available for you to turn into publications.

If you’re still in the planning stage of your publication however, it’s a good idea to use software to create your outline, such as Microsoft Word. Why? Because you can see your work at a glance, move text around quite quickly, and therefore organise your publication with less hassle.

Simply open a Microsoft document, go to the View menu at the top, and click on Outline. In this View a new toolbar appears. If you’re not used to working in this way, open a non-important document and play around with its features at first. You will see headings and styles are displayed, and you can add sub-headings and sub-sub-headings as required.

When you come to the real document, simply insert your body text under the relevant headings.

The best way to learn how to use free templates is to try them. They can make your life a whole lot easier. How come? Because the ground work has already been done for you. All that’s left for you to do is to fill in the blanks!

Currency Technical Analysis Part 1: The Most Important Theory Ever

Stephen Todd asked:

In currency technical analysis, the most important theory ever, for understanding market movement, is Dow Theory - but its influence is vastly under estimated by the bulk of traders.

The reasons why every trader (not just currency traders) should look at Dow Theory, and understand it, is the basis of this article. Understand Dow Theory correctly, and incorporate it in your trading strategy - then watch your profits soar.

Predictive Theory V Odds Theory

Many traders look for theories that predict - as they think making money is easy. Of course if they stopped to think about it, they would realize that if predictive theories worked, we would all know the market price in advance - and there would be no market!

Losing traders love theories, such as Elliot Wave, and Gann - which are supposed to scientifically predict market movements in advance - which of course they can’t.

So, forget about joining the far out investment crowd, and traders looking for easy money. Lets look at currency technical analysis with Dow theory - and gain a greater insight into market movement, that can lead to big profits.

In 1901, when writing in the Wall Street Journal, Charles H. Dow compared the stock market, to the tides of the ocean, - and the quote below neatly sums up the theory:

“A person watching the tide coming in and who wishes to know the exact spot which marks the high tide, sets a stick in the sand at the points reached by the incoming waves until the stick reaches a position where the waves do not come up to it, and finally recede enough to show that the tide has turned. This method holds good in watching and determining the flood tide of the stock market.”

Probability is the Key to Currency Trading Success

Like the waves of the ocean, we all know that tides ebb and flow (come in and go out) - but we don’t know the exact spot, or the exact timing - we wait for confirmation.

Dow Theory is a theory of currency technical analysis that doesn’t predict - but gives us a chance to put the odds in our favor.

Just as waves don’t move to an exact scientific theory, neither do markets - but they do move in recognizable patterns - and with currency trading technical analysis, this is what we need to do - spot the patterns with the best chance of success, and trade them for profit.

The basis of currency trading technical analysis lies in getting the odds in our favor - not scientific prediction.

The Development of Dow’s Thoughts

Dow theory has been around for almost 100 years, and even in today’s markets, the basic components of Dow theory remain valid. Dow theory not only addresses technical analysis, and price action - but also market philosophy.

Dow theory as set down by Dow himself, was later developed by two important analysts - Rhea and Hamilton, who take enormous credit for developing Dow theory, and bringing it to a wider audience.

Why is Dow Theory So Significant?

In today’s world of trading, many traders think that trading is easy - vendors, who peddle predictive theories, and easy ways to make money, perpetrate this hype.

However, even with the huge advances in computers, and the data crunching available today, there is no way of predicting the market - and their never will be.

Dow theory though, gives any sensible trader, a great form of currency technical analysis, which can get the odds in their favor.

We will cover the basics of this important currency technical analysis theory in part 2 of this article - where we show you how you can use the theory to enhance your profit potential.

Choice Trait Theory And Criminal Behavior

Betty Mydland asked:

How far would you go to make a cool $3.2 million dollars? A Colorado couple made that calculating decision that will send them to prison for a long time. Drug manufacturing in this country is at an all time high. Its affect crosses all social boundaries causing mental, emotional and financial hardship on family, friends, and society as a whole. It has become such a problem that U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy addressed the issue in May of this year stating that “this legislation would reauthorize and expand the ability of the Attorney General to award grants aimed at increasing the number of cops on the streets and in our schools” Leahy, P. (May 2007).

The hard question is “why do people engage in such destructive activity?” The answer lies within human nature and its delicate intricacies, be they by choice or inherent traits.

“Officers hit pay dirt when they raided a suspected Ecstasy lab in a home here [Denver, Colorado]Tuesday. They found enough chemicals to make 50,000 to 80,000 tabs of Ecstasy with a street value of up to $3.2 million,” said John Cohen, special agent for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Scanlon, B. (2007) Rocky Mountain News

Choice Theory advocates that behavior is central to our existence and driven by, five genetically driven needs, similar to those of Maslow:

• Survival (food, clothing, shelter, breathing, personal safety and others)

• and four fundamental psychological needs:

• Belonging/connecting/love

• Power / significance

• Freedom / responsibility, and

• Fun / learning

Behavior (”Total Behavior” in Glasser’s terms) is made up of, four of these components: acting, thinking, feeling and physiology. Glasser suggests that we have considerable control or choice over the first two of these, and little ability to, directly choose the latter two. As these four components are, closely intertwined, the choices we make in our thinking and acting greatly affect our feeling and physiology.

This theory and its categories definitely fit the scenario mentioned in the crime in this essay. The actions of the offenders dictate that they did calculate, plan, and then proceed with the offense of manufacturing Ecstasy. This kind of, planning, targeting and assumption of financial gain are the results of rational choice of those committing the crime.

The decision of where to purchase the ingredients and, how much to purchase based on what they planned to distribute, all lead credence to the aspects of Rational Choice. Additionally, it can be considered a foregone conclusion that they knew their target, the popular clubs around town known for those who engaged in consuming their product. They knew how to market it and, knowing what the going street price was it can be safely assumed that they considered the cost of financial gain to be worth the risk of being caught.

The bottom line in connecting Rational Choice Theory to the crime presented in this paper is that every step of the process involved a, well planned, calculated, informed and, intelligent decision to engage in the criminal activity of the production of the illegal drug Ecstasy and to deliver it to market.

The core components of most importance to the Trait Theory is cognition, intelligence and, personality.

Cognition is the individual’s level of mental ability to make decisions, process information, and ideas, problem solving and, how they perceive the world around them and its relation to them. In this respect, this element of Trait Theory also applies to the crime in this essay. The offender’s ability to make a decision based on known information regarding the drug’s popularity and ease of manufacturing is a key component to their decision.

Their level of intelligence is such that they are able to process the information of chemical compounds, and the ease of obtaining those compounds. In addition, their intelligence suggests that they have a high level of reading comprehension. This would be, needed in order to understand the “recipe” for their manufacturing endeavor.

As for their personality traits, these could be multiple, though not to be construed as multiple personality disorder. They are inventive, resourceful and, communicative, (needed to persuade a buyer). They are risk takers, and have little or no respect for the law. These traits could be inherent genetically or, they could be acquired, through early childhood learning behavior.

The next question in that parade is, if a person’s intelligence is increased, and along with it their cognitive abilities, will their genetic makeup override the new learning and still condemn them to criminal behavior? Studies have shown this not to be so.

One of the most heated debates it seems in the penal system is genetics and intelligence. “It is important to note that there is no single gene for intelligence, personality traits, behavior,” (Reiss, D. 1997). Hypnosis Research and Current Theories

Chris Dreyer asked:

There has been much research including experimental and clinical studies that have attempted to uncover current theories behind what is so unique about hypnosis. According to current hypnosis research theories the ability to experience a state of hypnosis outside the formal hypnotic setting and how it is related to the hypnotizability of an individual is a function more closely related to their disposition. People can also respond positively to hypnotic suggestions while they are engaged in vigorous physical activity.

There are many methods of hypnosis, some more current than others. The development of a popular technique known as neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) has found use in current sales, advertising and corporate training organizations.

There is also a popular method of hypnotism called induction which involves immobilization and relaxation of the subject. A typical session would begin with an induction procedure that asks the person to focus his or her eyes on a fixation point and to relax and concentrate on the voice of the hypnotist. This model was one of the first to be developed. A person with moderate interpersonal skills and the ability to establish a relationship of trust is more easily hypnotized using the induction methods of hypnosis.

Current research theories show that hypnosis and trance look a lot like the awake state physiologically and that they are both different from the sleep state. Research has shown that there are many therapeutic techniques that use current hypnosis theories such as acupuncture, bio-feedback and visualization to name a few.

Since the beginning of modern times, there has been a great amount of effort devoted to the claims that hypnotic suggestions allow people to transcend the voluntary capacities normally attributed to individuals. The capacity to learn at a speedier rate, have a better memory, be stronger and have better eye sight are just a few of the attributes that are mentioned.

Current research into hypnosis theories is a thriving topic for clinical application and scientific inquiry. To see representation of this fact one can simply look to affiliates of the International Society of Hypnosis; Professional organizations such as the Society for
Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and several others. There have been clinical studies that indicate hypnosis is effective in the relief of pain in patients suffering from cancer, burns and leukemia.

One of the dominant theories of hypnosis is the neo-dissociative theory. It contends that conscious processing is divided into non-interacting ’streams,’ that allows for suggestions to bypass the executive control process and monitoring functions of the brain.

Some of the non-scientific theories of hypnosis frame it in terms of energy fields, invisible bodily fluids, supernatural forces, and alternate planes of existence. Throughout the research to find a current definition of hypnosis, modern hypnotic camps individually maintain their radically unique conceptions of hypnosis.

Current hypnosis research results in more truthful responses, enhances the memory of past events like brand “imprinting” advertising, and elicits greater emotional response. It generates greater respondent creativity and brainstorming activity as well.

In the final analysis, most current hypnosis research theories are designed to illuminate the nature of specific hypnotic phenomena such as analgesia or amnesia then to provide evidence for any overarching theory of hypnosis.
